Adding sealant is not equivalent to reconstructing a defective flashing detail. A chimney contractor may need to coordinate with a roofer.

Keep annotated photos locating the proposed work, material details and the scope boundary between trades.
Record who performed the work, the date, the identified appliance or flue and any follow-up recommended. When photos are provided, ask for labels that let another contractor understand what they show. A clear record helps distinguish a new condition from an old recommendation at the next visit.
