Chimney Sweep Ratings publishes company records, homeowner education and comparison worksheets. Our aim is to make the evidence behind a hiring decision easier to inspect. Meet the Editorial Desk and read our publishing workflow.
What we know—and what needs checking
Company fields come from the shared directory feed. A record update date is not a review date, a license verification date or proof of current insurance. Missing information is treated as unknown. We do not invent service coverage, customer reviews or credentials.
How educational pages are prepared
Our editorial content explains service scopes, questions and record keeping. Each new or substantially revised page is checked for a defined homeowner decision, source attribution, safety language, scope limits, unsupported claims and useful internal pathways. Technical background is linked to specialist resources where relevant. These pages have not been represented as individually reviewed by a certified sweep. Local code, product instructions and on-site findings can change what work is appropriate.
Content governance by page type
- Company and location pages: refresh from the directory feed; record timestamps describe the data record only.
- Guides, services, problems and scenarios: carry a visible Editorial Desk attribution and a substantive publication or review date.
- Original directory research: publishes the denominator, calculation method, refresh interval and limitations.
- Interactive tools: explain storage, export behavior and the decisions they cannot make.

Correct a record or article
Email email@chimneysweepratings.com with the page URL, the field or statement at issue, the proposed correction and a public supporting source. Do not send identity documents, private customer records or account passwords. We assess whether a change belongs in the directory source, the editorial copy or both.
Updates and correction history
Content changes should reflect substantive revisions. We avoid automatically changing article publication dates merely because a page was rebuilt. Company data refreshes separately from editorial content. Material editorial corrections will be identified on the affected page with the correction date and what changed; style, spelling and link-maintenance edits may be made without a correction note.
