About the Chimney Sweep Ratings Editorial Desk
We build a source-aware directory and homeowner decision library. Our role is to organize company records, expose the limits of ratings, translate service scopes into useful questions and make our method inspectable.
What experience informs the work
Our published experience is the work visible on this site: structuring thousands of local company records, testing directory completeness, documenting rating-source limitations, building comparison worksheets and connecting homeowner questions to service scopes. The Directory Evidence Lab shows aggregate results calculated from the live feed instead of asking readers to accept vague claims about coverage.
What we do not claim
The Editorial Desk is not represented as a chimney inspection company, licensing authority, emergency service or substitute for an appropriately qualified professional at the property. We do not invent a named expert, certification or field review. Where professional review has not occurred, we say so.
Our publishing workflow
- Define the reader decision. Every guide should help a homeowner prepare, compare, document or ask a better question.
- Separate observations from conclusions. Symptoms and directory fields are not diagnoses, qualifications or endorsements.
- Trace technical context. We link to government, industry and specialist sources and identify when local rules or manufacturer instructions control.
- Review for safety and scope. We check emergency language, overclaims, missing limitations and whether the page directs readers to on-site expertise when needed.
- Connect the evidence. Guides link to related services, problems, tools, research and methodology so readers can follow a complete decision path.
Data and commercial independence
Company pages are generated from the public-ready directory feed. Missing data remains unknown. The default ordering formula excludes paid tier and is published in full. Inclusion is not endorsement, and a rating is never treated as a credential. See the comparison methodology.
Dates, corrections and accountability
Editorial pages show a publication or substantive review date. Company record timestamps are labeled separately because they are not editorial reviews, credential checks or review dates.
