What to put in the scope
- Describe the transaction, modification or incident prompting the visit.
- Confirm accessible areas and internal imaging arrangements.
- Obtain a report connecting images to each identified flue and recommendation.
Where this service stops
A camera scan is not the entire inspection. Access restrictions matter, and Level 2 does not mean concealed construction has been exposed.
The evidence to keep
Request labeled image locations, the components examined and any access limitations. A buyer should understand which questions remain unanswered before treating the report as complete.
Record who performed the work, the date, the identified appliance or flue and any follow-up recommended. When photos are provided, ask for labels that let another contractor understand what they show. A clear record helps distinguish a new condition from an old recommendation at the next visit.
Questions before accepting a proposal
- Does the price cover every appliance and flue?
- What access is needed to attic or crawl spaces?
- How are inaccessible areas recorded?
Ask the company to identify travel, roof access, additional flues, permits and disposal separately where they affect the price. Confirm how unforeseen conditions will be explained and authorized. Keep the original estimate alongside any agreed changes.
